What it is and how it works
Keeping a rug spotless is not easy, especially in homes with children, pets or frequent guests. Stain protection is a specialist protective treatment that stops stains, dirt and liquids such as wine, coffee, juice or mud from soaking into the fibres.
It creates an invisible barrier around each fibre: spills stay on the surface for longer, giving you time to blot them up before they become a permanent stain.
The liquid stays on the surface instead of soaking into the fibre.

Main benefits
1
Easy cleaning
Spills can be blotted up before they are absorbed.
2
Unchanged look
It protects without altering the original colour, softness or texture.
3
Longer life
It keeps dirt from working deep into the pile and extends the life of the rug.
4
Fewer deep cleans
Fewer professional washes are needed, and those can sometimes damage the fibres.
5
Made for busy homes
Especially useful with children, pets or high-traffic areas.
03
With and without stain protection
This is how a rug behaves when something spills, with and without stain protection.

Protection you cannot see
Rugs in dining rooms, living rooms and hallways take spills and wear every day. Stain protection is the first line of defence and keeps colours vivid, which matters most in natural fibres such as jute and wool, which are more absorbent.
It forms an ultra-thin, clear layer with no stiffness, sheen or cloudiness, even in direct sunlight. It works on silk, flat weaves and hand-knotted wool: you see the design and the craft, not the treatment.
05
What to do when something spills
The treatment buys you time, but it is no substitute for acting fast: the sooner a spill is blotted, the better.
1
Blot immediately
Use a clean white cloth or absorbent paper. Press without rubbing, always working from the outside of the stain inwards.
2
Cold or warm water
Counter it with clean cold or warm water. Never use hot water: it can set the stain into wool or silk fibres.
3
Neutral detergent solution
If it persists, apply warm water with a few drops of pH-neutral detergent. Use it only to moisten, and leave for a few minutes.
4
Rinse and dry
Blot with absorbent paper or cloth, pressing onto the stain. Repeat several times until no residue is left.
For grease, chewing gum, rust, ink and other specific stains, follow the care manual. If in doubt, ask a professional before applying any product.
